About the app
Health care professionals who use ablation (cryotherapy and thermal/cold coagulation) for treatment of cervical precancer will find this a very useful resource.
Developed by the Cervical Cancer Prevention and Training Centre in Catholic Hospital, Battor, Ghana, it is designed for use by health workers just before ablation therapy for cervical precancer. This will take less than 90 seconds and will prevent many likely errors in treatment [eg performing ablation for a pregnant woman, a woman with likely (micro)invasive disease, or a woman who can be referred to another centre for a superior treatment like biopsy + LEEP].
By providing answers to 9 questions, alerts are given when ablation is contraindicated or if it will be better to give the client an alternative treatment.
Trainers and trainees should find this a useful tool across the world especially in low resource settings.
